Axel Frejman – Looking for ancient commons
Shared resources and collective action in Archaic to Hellenistic Greece
Dr. Axel Frejman

Axel Frejman will present his current research which investigates the possible existence of commons regimes of governance in ancient Greece. Sanctuaries are a promising case for such shared decision-making, and a primary field of investigation in my research. There are however also other possible cases that will be presented during the talk, such as different uses of the eschatia, the outlands. My study uses knowledge and design principles developed in the field of political economy, to see if this can be applied on the ancient Greek material.
